Vibrational Energy Harvesting System with MPPT for IoT Applications

We present an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) to exploit vibration energy. Firstly, a piezoelectric transducer (PT) transforms mechanical vibration into AC electricity. An active rectifier then converts AC electricity into DC power. A boost converter is adopted as impedance matching load to achieve maximum power point tracking (MPPT). The system charactrerizes an effective MPPT circuit as well as a fast open-voltage sampling design, which is capable of sensing and tracking the maximum power point (MPP) of energy source in order to extract maximum piezoelectric energy.
