This paper describes a coaxial shunt model which is applied in current measurements of HVDC transmission lines. An analytical method is presented to calculate the errors which are caused by the skin effect and the proximity effect under AC disturbance. An expression of AC-DC impedance ratio of the shunt is obtained. The expression from which we can analyze the errors is relevant to the structure of the shunt and the frequency of the disturbance. The variation tendencies of the errors with frequency are analyzed. The conclusions can guide the design of coaxial shunts and evaluate its performance.
