Gas control application of gas extraction with high-level boreholes in the roof during mining in a coal mining face

Aiming at the problem of the frequent occurrence of unusual gas emission in the upper corner and return airway during mining in the 20102 coal mining face in a certain coal mine of Shanxi Province, the different-source prediction method was applied to analyze the gas emission law of this 20102 coal mining face. Based on the numerical simulation of the fractured zone in the roof of the 20102 coal mining face, the high-level borehole was used to extract the gas in the goaf, and its designed parameters for the high-level borehole extraction were also studied. The field application results of high-level borehole gas extraction in goaf show that, when the scalar of single-hole gas extraction is up to 4.32 m3/min, designing a reasonable high-level borehole in the fractured zone in the roof of the coal mining face can effectively solve unusual gas emission at the upper corner and return airway during mining in the 20102 coal mining face. At the same time, the results indicate that pressure relief gas extraction during mining is essential to control unusual gas emission in the coal mining face.
