An increasing number of rockburst mines in China are being subjected to engineering disasters resulting from preventing rockbursts, causing roadway failure, supports crushing, extracting breaking and so on. This paper investigates the mechanism of the engineering disasters resulting from preventing rockbursts by means of cases analysis , proposes a rockburst treatment method by zoning and grading in an attempt to provide guidelines for coordinated control of rockbursts and disasters resulting from preventing rockbursts, and then discusses the key techniques for rockburst treatment by zoning and grading. The proposed rockburst treatment method and its corresponding key techniques were successfully applied to LW2302S at Xinjulong Coal Mine, and the effect is supported by the nonoccurrence of rockburst in LW2302S, and further verified by deformation monitoring.
