The permeability of the loaded coal was different under different working conditions. Under the states of different effective stress and different pore pressures and with the effective stress as the variation, the permeability change characteristics for the loaded coal containing methane in different loading stages were researched and the relationship between the permeability and effective stress was established qualitatively and quantitatively with the consideration of the adsorption of the deformation, pore gas compression amount and temperature dilatometric change amount in this paper. Based on the radial flow theory and the Darcy Law, the relation equation of the effective stress and the gas permeability of coal seam were deduced. According to the experimental result for the gas permeability coefficient of coal seam by the drill radial direction flow method, the theoretical result was compared and it was found that the experimental and theoretical results met well.
