Possibility analysis of unburned carbon separation from power plant slag

The article contains the results of slag property studies, significant from the point of view of unburned carbon particle separation. Size composition and loss on ignition distribution as a function of particle size were studied, while density analyses were performed for selected size grades. The possibility for significant carbon particle separation using the magnetic and gravity separation methods was found. At laboratory scale, using a combination of the aforementioned methods yielded char concentrates with 71-85% loss on ignition values.
