Study on the mechanism of complex micellar system of NaOA /Cyclohexane solubilization of methane
surfactant; NaOA/ cyclohexane; solubilization; methane
Final Paper
Surfactant sodium oleate (NaOA) has important applications in solubilizing methane but there is insufficient research to the complex system of NaOA and the mechanism of its solubilization of methane. The mixed solution of NaOA and cyclohexane was selected as the subject in this study. The methane solubilization, the critical micelle concentration, particle size distribution and morphology and other relevant parameters of the mixed system were used to explain the mechanism of surfactant micelle solubilization of methane from the micro aspect. This study can get to following conclusions. First, the mixed system can generate a large number of micelles with hydrophobic cores propitious to solubilization of methane, as a result, the mixed system is better than the single NaOA solution in solubilization of methane. Second, in the mixed solution, when the concentration of the cyclohexane is 3 times as the NaOA, methane has the greatest solubility. At this point, the system has the lowest critical micelles concentration and it is the easiest time to generate micelle. Third, the micelle size is evenly dispersed in the range of 200-350 nm, and the particle size distribution and morphology of the micelle are beneficial to the solubilization of methane, which makes methane functions better.
