The diamond nanocomposite for high-current field emission of electrons

Theoretical and experimental research of nanostructured carbon materials are presented. Carbon nanocomposite structures containing various ratios of carbon atoms in sp3 and sp2 hybridisation valence state were obtained. Structures were created by nonequilibrium microwave plasma. Random chemisorptions forming of C-C = C (diamond-graphite) chemical bonds create a structure which allows electronic exchange between phase components. Cold electron source with a threshold voltage up to 10 V/μm and a current pulse emission density more than 200 A/cm2 were obtained. Reducing autoemission threshold allows to increase the current densities at lower intensities of the external electric field, increase the life time and autoemission stability of the used cathode materials.
