Research confirms the role of numerous factors that influence intentions towards starting a business. This study aims to extend the literature on predicting the role of contextual factors towards entrepreneurial intentions (EIs) among students in an emerging economy (China). This study examines the contextual factors as the function of educational, relational and structural support. The data were collected from 503 students from seven universities in western China. The study uses the hierarchical regression analysis to test the significance of the variables. The findings revealed the significance of contextual factors in predicting EIs among Chinese students. This study has important implications for policymakers within and outside the universities.
