With the continuous development of microelectronics technology in decades, application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) suitable for low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite communication have attracted more attention. The low power consumption and resistance to single-event upset (SEU) of the ASIC make it ideal for LEO satellite communication payloads. The design method of the LEO satellite communication ASIC proposed in this study includes two parts: front-end design and back-end design. The front-end design method has the characteristics of simple system structure and low logic resources consumption. The back-end design method has the advantages of high reliability and low power consumption. The ASIC designed with this method has been tapeout and tested, and the functions and performance all meet the design requirements. Moreover, the power consumption is effectively reduced relative to the FPGA or DSP.
