The small molecule organic solar cells (SM-OSCs) was fabricated with two concept (multilayer and ternary cascade) through high vacuum thermal evaporation to improve the light harvesting. Although the series resistance of device was increase, the separation and transport of electron and hole was more fluently according to the relay of energy level for halogenated (Sub-)phthalocyanines and fullerene. The absorption can be broadened because of the complement of each material in the active layer of device, leading to the enhancement of power conversion efficiency and short-circuit density. However, the absorption reinforcement in near infrared ray has higher and better benefits than the general SM-OSCs, concentrating on the far infrared ray.
