Resonance phenomena in the field circuit of salient pole synchronous machines

A general distributed parameters field winding model for a synchronous machine salient pole rotor is presented in here. The model is completely characterized by simple heuristic considerations and its parameters are derived experimentally. The results show that the model is able to estimate the maximal voltage gradients and surges produced in the winding by fast switching power electronics converters
