Very high field can break a vacuum of quantum electrodynamics (QED) to decay. While the present laser intensity is less still a few orders of Schwinger critical one, 1029W/cm2, the facility constructed in near future like of ELI etc can provide the possibility to test the theoretical prediction due to quantum effects such as pair production as well other nonlinear dynamics characteristics of light-matter interactions.

This talk will introduce the recent progress in QED of strong field, highlight the dynamics and main problems about the pair production. The attentions are focus on the various approaches to cope with the problem such as quantum Vlasov equation (QVE), S-matrix, Dirac-Heisenberg-Wigner (DHW) formalism and so on.
In particular, the DHW is applicable to study the elliptical polarized fields or/and the frequency chirping fields. The vortex pattern and other interesting features are found in pair’s momenta spectra. Enhanced pair production are observed with the dynamically assisted Schwinger effect or/and effective frequency chirping effect.

These results not only provide the deeper understanding of fundament light-matter interaction but also have a power potential to detect the vacuum in future experiments.
