Three dimensional x-ray incoherent encoded holography based on binary Gabor zone plates

Among the challenges in inertial confinement fusion is diagnosing and understanding the conditions in the hohlraum. Therefore imaging with simultaneous high spatial, high temporal and multidimensional resolution is critical for the future. There have been many attempts to peer inside the hohlraum to see exactly what happens, including pinhole imaging, backlit imaging, spherical crystal imaging, Kirkpatrick-Baez microscope, and Wolter microscope. Unlike the previous ones, a novel three dimensional x-ray incoherent encoded holography based on binary Gabor zone plate is proposed in this paper. Theoretically, classical Fresnel zone plate encoded holography enables three dimensional imaging, but the associated problems of out-of-focus artifacts limited its application. In this new method, we can obtain a combinational holograph in one laser shock by using a special combinational binary Gabor zone plate. And then three dimensional precise image with low noise can be obtained from a two dimensional incoherent hologram by combining reconstruction methods. A computer simulation study is carried out to demonstrate the capability of the new method. The potential power of improving three dimensional image quality by this technique is demonstrated. This work offers new potential opportunities for three dimensional x-ray imaging in hohlraum in inertial confinement fusion research.
