The instability of a planar interface (water-gas) impacted by a sinusoidal rippled shock is studied by the high-resolution simulations. A hybridization of the 5th-order weighed essential non-oscillatory (WENO) and 2th-order monotonic upstream-centered scheme for conservation laws (MUSCL) schemes is adopted to capture the multi-phase interface with remarkable acoustic impedance mismatch. The rippled shock is initially posited in the water, and possible effects including the shock Mach number, the initial shock amplitude, and the gas species are considered. Much attentions are paid on the instability growth and ejecta of the surface, and the amplitude growth rate and ejecta mass are used, in order to quantify the deformation process.
