Searching for the materials with combination of superhard and multi electrical/optical functional properties has always been an exciting research topic because of their wide applications in industry and the fundamental importance in condense-matter physics. Here, we report the synthesis of transition metal borides/nitrides, e.g. ZrB12 and MoN etc., which show high hardness and also rich electrical/optical properties, such as ultra low electronic resistivity, semi conductivity or superconductivity.Such magic multifunctional materials has great implication to the development of high efficient electronic devices and promotion of relevant applications.
