One of the most important contents of the WDM study is to know the equation of state (EOS) both experimentally and theoretically. However, the EOS in the WDM regime is insufficiently known. Therefore, it is of great importance to investigate the creation of WDM under available experiment conditions. The hydrodynamic behavior of targets with different materials has been studied theoretically by using a computer code based on the two-dimensional QHD models. Different target materials, e.g., copper, magnesium, aluminum, tin, and lead, have been investigated. We have studied the achieved WDM states of target samples, which include electron temperature, target electron density, beam-proton density, and induced electric field. In this study, the beam parameters were based on the existing values.
The simulation results show that the dependence of achieved Warm Dense Matter states on the Wigner-Seitz radius Rs of the target material is shown. The results demonstrate that higher Rs, namely, lower target electron density, leads to higher perturbed electron density, higher electron temperature, as shown in figure 1. The intense proton beam provides an excellent opportunity to study Warm Dense Matter, and the results of the current work could provide important guidance for future experimental design.
