Organometal halide perovskites have intensively potential applications in the fields of optoelectronic and photovoltaic devices because of their spectacular semiconductor properties, in which bandgap is of vital importance. Pressure has been proved to be a powerful and clean tool for finely tuning the bandgap of halide perovskites. However, the bandgap in the region of ~2.5-3.0 eV has not yet been realized in these materials through compression, which is crucial for their applications in high energy range of visible light spectum. Findings in this work unveil for the first time that the bandgap of halide perovskites can be tuned in the high-energy region of visible spectrum (from violet light to yellow light), and give fresh insights into pressure effect on the structure and properties of halide perovskites, offering a rational strategy for tailoring the properties of halide perovskites at pressures.
