Improved Droop Control Strategy for Application in Microgrid
droop control strategy, second-order inertia, stable active power regulation, virtual impedance
Draft Accepted
Droop control strategy is lack of the voltage inertia, angular frequency inertia, and decoupling ability. Therefore, the voltage and angular frequency of the distributed generator (DG)
units based on the droop control strategy are easily affected by the power fluctuations and high frequency noises, and the adjustment of the power is also easily affected by the coupling
of the DG units. To solve these problems, an improved droop control strategy incorporating inertia and virtual impedance is proposed. The voltage inertia and angular frequency inertia are the second-order inertia, which can slow down the change ratio of the voltage and angular frequency, and the high frequency noises from the DG units can also been effectively eliminated. The virtual impedance can change the characteristics of the line impedance, so it can decrease the coupling of the DG units. Experimental results of a microgrid platform demonstrate the effectiveness of the improved droop control strategy
