Geomagnetic disturbances will induce GIC (Geomagnetically Induced Currents) in high voltage power grid. GIC can cause cascading failure in the power system, resulting in system collapse or blackouts. In this papers, the mechanism of power grid fault under magnetic storms is analyzed, and a vulnerable link indentification model of power grid based on brittlesness theory of complex system under magnetic storms is proposed. The brittleness theory of complex system is used to identify the vulnerable link and fault propagation process of the power grid under the conditions of magnetic storm. Finally, the proposed model is validated by IEEE-RTS79 system. The verification results show the correctness of the proposed model. The obtained recognition results can provide reference for further quantification and prevention of the risk of magnetic storm on the power grid.
