Abstract Accepted
Successive commutation failure is one of the common faults in multi-infeed HVDC system (MI-HVDC), which has a huge adverse impact on the operation of power systems. Fault current limiter (FCL) is a device that can be used for limiting the risk of successive commutation failure by reducing the voltage interactions among different HVDCs. This paper proposes an optimization model for optimal location and parameter selection of FCL to suppress the successive commutation failure. The decrease in the Multi-infeed interaction factor (MIIF) after the FCLs are installed is considered as the goal. Meanwhile, the installation cost of FCLs is bounded. A greedy algorithm is used to solve the optimization problem. Finally, a modified IEEE 118-bus system is used to validate the effectiveness of the proposed model.
