Research on Over-voltage Distribution of Protecting Circuit during Commutation Period under HEMP Condition in HVDC Converter Valve

Thyristor is the core component of HVDC converter valve. The purpose of protecting circuit is to prevent thyristors from damages. Protecting circuit contains saturable reactor, snubber circuit and voltage equalizing circuit. HEMP will bring huge over-voltage condition to converter valve. In order to ensure the safety and stability of converter valve. This paper studies the over-voltage distribution of protecting circuit under HEMP condition mainly.
