Recently, the number of facilities capable of high-speed active control, such as Flexible AC Transmission System and High Voltage Direct Current, has increased and system operation uncertainty and complexity are increasing. Therefore, oscillation may occur due to the problem of natural property of electro-mechanical system or due to external forcing function. In order to solve the oscillation problem caused by mutual interference, it is necessary to strengthen the system such as flexibility and oscillation suppression through flexible AC transmission system control. The authors propose a method to reduce oscillation using a damping controller equipped with delay reconstruction algorithm. In the case of the existing Sub-Synchronous Damping Controller, the STATCOM is designed not to generate oscillation in the planning stage when applied to the system. However, the authors present a solution to reduce the oscillation of the system and the unexpected interaction of forced oscillation.
