Control Strategy for Small Hydro, PV & Fuel-Cells based Hybrid Active Grid
Small hydro power,,Fuel cell,PV Array,Grid connected and islanded mode
Draft Accepted
This paper proposes an efficient autonomous power management (APM) control strategy for small-scale hydro generator, PV and fuel cell based active distribution network in remote areas. The proposed APM scheme promotes the operational reliability and resiliency by coordinating the distributed energy resources and energy storage system, targeting on power shortage and surplus scenarios. In the APM control strategy, voltage source converters that interface the PV and fuel cell into distribution network employ a decoupled D-Q voltage and current control system for operation in grid and islanded modes. In grid connected mode, the system frequency and voltage are regulated by grid while in islanded mode energy storage is used to regulate the system frequency and voltage in isochronous mode. The mode transitioning dynamics are examined in a distributed network modelled by MATLAB/SIMULINK, with the simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed APM scheme in meeting the demand, ensuring the supply economic and securing operation stability.
