Safety management is essential for production and business enterprise to guarantee the safety of both personnel and property. Safety management practices of power grid enterprises in China have a history of several decades with continuous development and improvement. However, there are still many shortcomings, especially in distribution networks. Distribution network companies in European countries have more mature measures in distribution network safety management, and in particular many of which are applicable to the market-oriented business environments. This paper studies the structure of safety management system for power grid enterprises in China and Europe. Two kinds of management systems are discussed and compared to propose suggestions for future development of power grid safety management in China.
