Proactive Data Mining Approach for Occupational Accidents in the Construction Industry

The construction industry is termed as one of the accident-prone industries. Studies and surveys concluded that due to the diversified nature and complex projects today made this industry hazardous where workers feel less surety during their jobs. A number of studies have already been carried out in this regard but none of them addresses the trend of the occupational accident based on construction project activities. Hence, this study is an attempt to investigate this trend using data mining. This research provides a trend for such occupational accidents based on the construction project activities as it would be easier to handle and design appropriate preventive measures for occupational accidents. The results show that struck by is a crucial accident and may result in further accidents and must be taken care of and it is also followed by fall and caught in. This PDMA guides the decision makers to be proactive while dealing with such occupational accidents rather than reactive.
