A Multiscale Mechanical Model of Concrete

Concrete is a kind of composite materials with significant multi-scale structure characteristics and its macro mechanical parameters is mainly determined by those micro-and mesostructures and the mechanical parameters of each component. In the paper, concrete is divided into three following scale levers: cement paste, cement mortar and concrete, and their components’ structural features are described by math formula respectively. Expression of equivalent elastic modulus which can consider the influence of the structural features is deduced. The existing models and the numerical simulation are used to validate this model and the comparison shows that the proposed model is credible. Based on this multi-scale model, the equivalent elastic modulus of the concrete is deduced and subsequently the mechanical properties of the concrete are analyzed.
