Froth flotation is a complex and an essential process, which is being widely used in various industries. The main purpose of this process is to separate particles of minerals and to achieve satisfactory beneficiation. The complicated nature of the process makes it challenging to monitor and control. Machine Learning techniques have an increasing influence on an extensive variety of research, including mineral processing. Many researchers have attempted to apply Machine Learning techniques in flotation image analysis, to relate the features in froth appearance with the performance and efficiency of the process. This review presents recently published researches that focused on applying ML models in image analysis of the froth generated during flotation process.
