Abstract The N-Heterocyclic Phosphino (NHP) serves as a type of π-electron donating substituent. In the realm of low-valent main group chemistry, it finds utility in stabilizing singlet phosphinidene,[1] monometal-substituted free carbenes,[2] copper carbyne anion complexes,[3] and ketenyl anions.[4] As a result, it exhibits promising applications in the study of novel stable low-valent main group compounds. In this study, we employed the NHP substituent to synthesize (bisphosphino)diazomethane and investigated its coordination reactions with transition metals, leading to the synthesis of a novel bisphosphino transition metal carbene complex. This complex was characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), high-resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS), and crystallography.
