From 2010, our group designed and synthesized a series of 2-aryl-substituted indenyl phosphines, which display unique reactivities both in stoichiometric reactions and metal-catalysed reactions (Fig. 1).[1-4] We were the first to report dinuclear indenyl ruthenium carbonyl complexes with an unprecedented η3 coordination mode.[2] Using {Ru[κ(P):(η6-2-mesityl-1H-inden-3-yl)PCy2]Cl2} as a catalyst, the dehydrogenation of alcohols gave a series of ketones in moderate to high yields, and liberating H2.[3] Meanwhile, palladium-catalyzed C–C and C–N cross-coupling reactions employing 2-aryl-substituted indenyl phosphine ligands have been proven effective in constructing functional compounds, including pesticides, materials and drugs [1,4]
