For hybrid UHV AC/DC power gird, it is necessary to research the interaction between them. In this paper a dynamic reactive power control strategy of UHV AC system in receiving end grid for continuous commutation failure suppression is proposed. At the basis of the analysis of voltage and reactive power characteristics of UHV AC system, the strategy uses two stage control according to the AC bus voltage of HVDC. In different stage the adjustable and fixed shunt reactor are switched off in turn. The UHV AC system can output reactive power to the receiving end grid based on capacitance characteristics of long transmission lines. That can support the dynamic voltage and suppress the continuous communication failure. At last the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the strategy.
