Abstract
Equipment in the distributed micro-grid have the characteristics of wide distribution, large number, different protocols, and small inertia. In order to make effective monitoring of off-grid micro-grid and achieve stable operation, the micro-grid Energy Management System (EMS) needs to have a real-time and reliable communication network to ensure the coordinated operation of the system. This paper proposes a proven solution, which adopts hybrid communication infrastructure based on the "three-layer and two-network" concept and multi-process software framework. The specific network is given from hardware and software and it is successfully applied to an EMS of an island micro-grid. The field operation verifies the real-time and reliability of the communication network, and that it can provide effective information for the micro-grid.
