Abstract
This paper is aimed at exploring the effect of salt fog and relative humidity on the corona aging performance of high temperature vulcanized (HTV) silicone rubber, which is the main material of composite insulator. The multi-factor corona aging system, which comprised of salt fog aging unit and corona aging unit, was applied to simulate the coastal environment. Hydrophobicity, surface resistivity and dielectric property were the characteristic parameters to compare before and after corona aging. The test results show that under coastal environment, the increase in salt deposit and humidity will aggravate the corona aging of silicone rubber material.
