The magnetorheological (MR) materials have been applied broadly for semi-active control, and the research on constitutive models has made progress. As an essential step towards the great potential for vibration control, the need of modeling to accurately describe the dynamical behavior of magnetorheological elastomers (MRE) is impending. According to the memory effect and the MR effect, a fractional nonlinear constitutive model for MRE was developed based on the experimental research of dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), by identifying the model parameters with data fitting of dynamical modulus and genetic algorithms for optimizing errors. Afterwards, based on a new MRE isolator designed to mitigate vibrations in vertical directions, the dynamical model was established for vibration systems, and this fractional nonlinear system is solved numerically with predictor-corrector approach to design the control algorithm by analyzing the dynamical characteristics. Lastly, the performance of vibration control was investigated for this new MRE isolator to realize the vibration mitigation, and the mechanism of vibration control for MRE was further explored with the analysis of the numerical calculations. As fundamental interdisciplinary research of MRE to reveal the mechanism of vibration control, this piece of work will contribute to the improvement of suppressing vibration, reducing noise, impact resistance and stability in isolation systems.
