Within this paper, a seat suspension for marine crafts is proposed to improve the anti-vibration effectively. This system consists of a variable damping (VD) device and a negative stiffness structure (NSS). This system can vary its damping by controlling the VD device. The applied negative stiffness structure, combined positive and negative stiffness spring, can achieve high static stiffness and low dynamic (HSLD) stiffness to improve the ride comfort of passengers or drivers. Then, this paper presents a clear theoretical analysis of the proposed model. The simulation result shows the ability of the vibration isolation system. The vibration isolation performance is compared between the system with semi-active NSS and VD system with the passive one. The result indicates that the vibration isolation effectiveness of this system is better than the passive one. The proposed vibration isolation system has been proven to be practicable and effective when facing different excitations in different sailing conditions and with different passengers.
