Abstract

Parker Solar Probe's (PSP) observations near the sun show the extensive presence of magnetic eld kinks (switchback for large kinks) in the slow solar wind. These kinks are usually accompanied by the enhancement of radial solar wind velocity and ion temperature, increasing or decreasing of number density. The magnetic eld kinks have also been observed by WIND and Ulysses satellites near and beyond 1 AU, respectively. In this study, we statistically analyze the property difference of magnetic eld kinks observed by PSP and WIND. We draw the following four points of results. (1) The WIND-kinks' plasma properties have a significant difference from that of PSP-kinks. Associated with WIND-kinks, the radial velocity slightly increases, while protons' density and temperature do not change significantly. (2) Comparing with PSP-kinks' boundaries, more WIND-kinks' boundaries exhibit features of rotational discontinuity (RD). The non-RD-kinks may vanish during the outward propagation. (3) The Alfvenic properties within most PSP-kinks and WIND-kinks are similar to that of the background, while a small proportion of PSP-kinks shows weak Alfvenic property. (4) Both the PSP-kinks and the WIND-kinks can be divided into two groups by Bn, where B represents the background magnetic eld and n is the normal direction of kinks' boundary. Our findings help better understanding the nature of kinks and provide the observational basis for testifying models about radial propagation and evolution of magnetic eld kinks.
