Aiming at the problems of the inaccurate estimation of the back electromotive force (BEMF) observer, and the difficult parameter tuning and poor dynamic performance of the phase-locked loop (PLL), a sensorless control strategy for PMSM drives based on quasi resonant internal model-based extended state observer (QEIM-ESO) and Newton-Raphson method-based phase-locked loop (NRM-PLL). The QEIM is planted into the inner loop of ESO to estimate BEMFs without the phase delay and amplitude attenuation. Moreover, the NRM-PLL is proposed to obtain the rotor position. After dividing the rotor position into four parts by minimizing the cost function, the extremely accurate rotor position can be obtained while only 3 iterations are needed. Great dynamic performance can be achieved by using this method and no parameters need to be tuned. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation results.
