A novel double ended fault location algorithm for hybrid lines in distribution network was proposed in this paper. After analyzing the characteristic of traveling waves in hybrid lines, some conclusions have been made as follow: Length error of over head line has little influence on wave speed calculation on line; Fault point- section terminal location mode which can decrease location error caused by line length error, has been adopted instead of fault point-line terminal mode. According to the conclusions above, a new algorithm for novel algorithm for hybrid lines travelling wave fault location was presented. Simulation results show that this algorithm can locate the fault point effectively, and has a high value of application.
