With the increase of distributed energy connected to the grid, part of the grid presents weak grid characteristics. Virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control can provide inertia and damping support for weak grids. In this paper, harmonic linearization method is used to model the impedance of modular multilevel converter (MMC) with VSG control strategy. The impedance model obtained is mainly capacitive in low frequency and inductive in high frequency, which may bring resonance points with the grid impedance in complex power system. According to the impedance stability criterion, the MMC grid-connected system has the risk of oscillation in high frequency band.
