Renewable energy consumption is an important part of the operation of the electric energy system, which can effectively reduce carbon emissions. This paper aims to propose a model and method for improve renewable energy consumption by batteries based on electric power system with multi-type units at the trend of increasing proportion of renewable energy power output. The proposed model optimizes the thermal units, RE units, pumped storage units, hydropower units, combined heat and power units and batteries in a unified manner, considering the uncertainties and fluctuations of renewable energy and taking into account the system operation constraints, Taking the modified IEEE-RTS79 system as an example, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed model and method are analyzed and verified. The results of the case study show that the addition of batteries can and absorb more renewable energy and improve the economics of system operation. By changing the working mode of the battery, the utilization rate of the battery capacity and a larger RE consumption interval can be improved.
