To improve the grid frequency response performance better, a dual adaptive virtual inertia control method is proposed in this article. The method makes full use of the rotor kinetic energy of wind turbine (WT) and DC-link capacitor energy of wind energy conversion system (WECS) for system frequency support, and the virtual inertia parameter can be adjusted adaptively according to the grid frequency and the rate of change of frequency (ROCOF). The simulation results show that the proposed control method is better than the constant virtual inertia configuration of conventional WECS.
