This paper provides a robust subsynchronous damping controller for permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind farm to mitigate subsynchronous resonance (SSR). Based on an eighth-order state space mathematical model of PMSG based wind farm, a robust subsynchronous damping current controller is designed and validated with different case studies of wind farms. The results show that the controller can increase the stability of PMSG based wind farm and shows SSR damping capability.
