Abstract
Aiming at the problem of the existing arc suppression methods that it is difficult to suppress intermittent grounding arcs, there is a risk of resonance when the device exits, and the capacity of the equipment is limited, this paper proposes an active voltage arc suppression method based on cascaded H-bridge converters. The fault phase voltage will be reduced to zero by using the active voltage arc suppression method to control the multi-level converter to output a suitable voltage value. The output voltage value of the device is gradually reduced to zero when it exits, which provides a release loop for the capacitor charge. The principle and advantages of active voltage arc suppression will be discussed in this article. At the same time, the principle on the suppression of fault current transient components will be analyzed. Finally, the theoretical analysis is simulated and verified by PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results show that the proposed arc suppression method can effectively suppress arc overvoltage without the risk of resonance.
