In order to reduce the energy consumption of the trawler, this paper uses an optimization method to optimize the hull form of an ocean-going trawler to reduce the resistance. The entire optimization process was managed using the CAD-CFD integration platform CAESES, and the resistance was simulated by CFD solver STAR-CCM+. Considering that the ocean-going trawler has two main navigation conditions: trawling condition and design condition. Under the trawling conditions the main hull of the trawler was changed by Lackenby method, and optimized by NSGA Ⅱ and Sobol+Tsearch algorithm. Under the design conditions, the bulbous bow was changed by FFD method, and the trawler was optimized by NSGA Ⅱ. The best hull form is obtained by comparing the ship resistance under various design schemes. The towing experiments were carried out to measure the navigation resistance of the ships before and after the optimization to verify the reliability of the optimization results. The results show that the optimization method can effectively reduce the resistance of trawler under two navigation conditions.
