Abstract
Dual-Active-Bridge (DAB) converters, as key interfaces, are widely used in high-frequency high-power energy storage systems. The efficiency of a DAB converter is a critical index which is mainly influenced by the backflow power, the turn-on loss, the turn-off loss and the conduction loss. With the increase of the switching frequency, achieving zero voltage switching (ZVS) by a negative current at the switching instant can greatly improve the efficiency of a DAB converter. The ZVS conditions derived from present research are not accurate, leading to achieving ZVS unsuccessfully or producing large backflow power. In addition, the ZVS conditions are generally obtained in one particular operating mode. Thus, they are not practical. In this paper, we fully consider four possible operating modes and accurately derive the corresponding minimum switching current value for achieving ZVS, with the influence of output parasitic capacitance. An optimal extended phase-shift (EPS) control for achieving ZVS under all four operating modes is designed. The optimization strategy is experimentally verified.
