As it's well known that, the combination of fiber-reinforced-polymers (FRP) and seawater sea-sand concrete has a board application prospect in island engineering. However, existing applications are limited to simple member level and have rarely involves structural level (e.g. concrete frames). The reason may lies on two aspects, one is that, there lacks efficient construction technology, and the other may due to the inherent linear-elastic mechanical characteristics of FRP materials, which causing a more cautious attitude to its application in structural level. In this paper, a new type of FRP bars reinforced seawater sea-sand concrete frame structure system suitable for island reef engineering is proposed. The new system introduces new materials and new methods such as the ultra-high-performance-concrete (UHPC), high-ductility FRP-wrapped steel tube, and prefabricated construction technology. The performance of the new type of prefabricated FRP bars reinforced SWSSC frame joint was preliminarily investigated by the numerical simulation analysis. The research results are beneficial to promote a higher level application of FRP bars reinforced SWSSC structures in the marine environment.
