Abstract
The effect of basalt fiber on fiber adsorption property, cracking resistance and shear resistance of basalt fiber asphalt mastic was studied by self-designed adsorption test, tensile test and shear test, so the optimal basalt fiber content is recommended. At the same time, the rheological properties of basalt fiber asphalt mastic under optimum fiber content were studied, and the microstructure of fiber mastic was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The results showed that adsorption capacity of basalt fiber enhances with the increase of fiber contents, while the shear and tensile strength of fiber mastic presents a “rising-dropping” trend with the increase of fiber contents. The optimal content of basalt fiber is 7% based on comprehensive properties. The rutting factor increases by 13.1% and 26.8% respectively at 70℃ and 76℃ after adding basalt fiber, and the stiffness modulus decreases by 25.8% and 17.7% at - 18℃ and - 24℃. The interface between basalt fiber and asphalt is well bonded, and the comprehensive properties of asphalt mastic are improved by reinforcement and bridging of basalt fiber.
