Abstract
Aiming at the optimization of adaptive control parameters at intersections under stochastic conditions, a optimization method considering stochastic characteristics is proposed. By analyzing the relationship between stochastic characteristics of vehicle arrival rate and vehicle delay, the relationship between green time and vehicle delay increment at intersections, an adaptive control optimization model is established with the objective of minimizing vehicle delay increment expectation at isolated intersections; A simulation test platform integrating Vissim and Matlab is built to compare the optimization of the model for vehicle delay in each traffic scenario, and to evaluate the effect of the model on intersection signal control under various saturation conditions. When the intersection is in medium saturation, the vehicle delay is reduced about 0.8%-2.3% compared with the traditional actuated control. When the intersection is at low or high saturation, the optimization effect of the proposed model is not. The results show that under different traffic scenarios, the signal control effect of the model proposed in this paper is better than that of traditional actuated control in the case of medium saturation.
