Abstract
Vehicle following distance is one of the important factors influencing traffic safety, and the impact of road adhesion coefficient on following distance cannot be ignored. This study considers road adhesion coefficient, and proposes an adaptive cruise control model of safe following distance based on different following states. Then, an experiment based on MATLAB platform is conducted, and the experiment results show that compared with the traditional model, the proposed model can effectively shorten the following distance and improve the traffic efficiency. In addition, a CarSim simulation is implemented, and the simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed model.
