Abstract
In order to effectively evaluate the traffic safety of urban road merging areas, this paper proposes a TC-PET fusion model (Traffic Conflicts and Post Encroachment Time fusion model). The TC-PET model uses the mean value of PET as a safety factor. First, this paper considers the characteristics and the process of traffic conflict in urban road merging area to establish a preliminary TC-PET model. And we use W as the safety factor. Secondly, combined with the actual traffic situation, the corrected TC-PET model is established. Finally, we apply this model to the safety evaluation of Longpan South Road in Nanjing. We receive threshold of the corrected model: W<0.4 is a serious conflict, 0.4≤W<2.5 is a slight conflict, and 2.5≤W,is a potential conflict.
